Why:
During the week of March 24th Regina was diagnosed with myelodysplasia (MDS), a life threatening disease, that occurs when the bone marrow stem cells malfunction. This results in the production of too many defective blood cells and not enough normal blood cells. Currently, the only option for cure is to find a healthy matching donor.
Regina must find a match and this is why we are asking for your help. Anyone, anywhere can be a potential match for Regina and other patients like her. You can save a life by registering as a marrow donor!
You may know Regina as an English teacher in the Jeffersonville-Youngsville School or as your guidance counselor at J-Y at Liberty High, at Sullivan West High or the BOCES Career and Technical Education Program or as a member of the Sullivan West Board of Education.
Regina worked for over three decades as an educator and advocate for youth in Sullivan County. Students, parents, and colleagues can attest to the compassion, the intelligence and commitment with which she served. She spent countless hours helping students make future decisions, resolve personal crises, and make healthy choices. She is the person who cheered and celebrated with you over every accomplishment and goal achieved.
Her selfless service saved lives. It’s our turn to save Regina! For more information go to www.GiftForRegina.com
