Why:
Karina Regino was only 11 months old when she was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), a fast-growing cancer of the blood and bone marrow.
On Good Friday of this year, Little Karina was diagnosed with AML and the powerful chemotherapy needed to battle this aggressive form of cancer began on Easter Sunday. Since then, between blood transfusions, platelet infusions, and various infections Karina hasn't lost her smile. Her spirit is an inspiration and yet, her family can't describe the utter helplessness that they feel as they watch her little body deteriorate.
The donor drive in Karina’s honor will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Mid Valley Assembly Church located at 131 S. Pleasantview Drive, Weslaco, Texas 78596.
