Attend a Marrow Donor Drive

Bone marrow donor drives are one of the most important ways we build our network of donors. It provides you the opportunity to learn more about us and often times meet the family of patients. You can be part of our life-saving effort by attending a donor drive and doing a simple cheek swab to register. It's that simple.

Just ten minutes of your time can help give a blood cancer patient a second chance at life.

Please Help Save Baby Declan! Giovanni and Friends fight to save the life of a child.

Call or email to get your kit TODAY!

The beautiful baby, Declan Totten, was born on Nov 27, 2007 but has faced challenges from the start. He came home from the hospital with jaundice and dairy intolerance. Around 4 months, his mom noticed red dots covering his body and he bruised and bled more easily than his hardy siblings. But she never thought that her baby son would have a life-threatening disease.

After months of frustration for Declan’s parents, he was finally diagnosed with Wiscott-Aldridge Syndrome on Oct 19, 2008. WAS is a genetic auto immune disorder that is fatal without a bone marrow transplant. Declan has a 2 year old and a 4 year old brother, but sadly, neither one of them was a match. Right now Declan DESPERATELY needs to find an unrelated donor match, and you can be the one to save him! His parents ask that all eligible donors register!

This is a chance to save Declan and other children like him in need of a donor.

Father of Three is Fighting for His Life! A Bone Marrow Transplant is his only Chance for Survival

Register as a Donor on Saturday, January 17, 2009 Marlboro, NJ

For the last three years, Marlboro resident Tom Culmone has been battling Leukemia. Chemotherapy alone has not been working, and now his only chance of survival is a bone marrow transplant. After several months, one potential donor has been identified, but if the donor falls through, Tom needs to find another donor.

His children are asking the community to come out and register as bone marrow donors. “It makes us terribly sad to see him so sick and there’s a huge empty space in our lives when he’s not home. We want to be the ones to take care of him, but we can’t do it alone. Dad needs a bone marrow transplant to survive – we need your help. PLEASE help us be heroes for Daddy now, help us save him” said Christina, Melissa and Thomas Jr. in a heartfelt plea for community support.

Marcia and Andy Williams – Together, WE Fight for her Life at the Real Salt Lake soccer Team Stadium - Rio Tinto!

Saturday, December 13th, 2008 Sandy, Utah

Soccer Unites Utah invites you to come join our Real Salt Lake family on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Rio Tinto Stadium from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as we team up with DKMS, the largest bone marrow donor center in the world to hold a life saving bone marrow donor drive. The drive will be held in honor of Marcia Williams, the beautiful mother and wife of fan favorite, Andy Williams, #77 Real Salt Lake. It is crucial that we find that matching bone marrow donor to save her life and we urge everyone to attend the event and register to be tested on Saturday, December 13 from 10am to 4pm at the Rio Tinto Stadium.

In May of this year, Marcia found out that her blood counts were very low. On July 3, 2008, they received the terrible news that it was Leukemia. Her world stopped, and they wanted so very badly for it not to be true. But, it is the case, Marcia has AML6 and we now know that the only chance to survive is a bone marrow transplant. So it is time to REACT! Andy, Marcia and their girls need us! Together as fans, family and a Utah community, we need to come together on December 13 and be tested. Marcia’s donor may be you! Andy and the girl’s, Shai, age 14 and Lexi, age 5, cannot imagine life without her - a reality they may have to face without a match.

From Marcia:
With all the love, help and support we have received, I am still desperately in need of a bone marrow transplant. I am relying on a stranger to save my life. I am asking you, PLEASE, please think about the lives you could save, my life, among many others, moms, dads, babies can be saved if you sign up and become a marrow donor.

Please Save My Mom Nicole! DKMS Bone Marrow Donor Drive with Giovanni and Friends.

Monday and Tuesday, December 3rd and 4th, 2008 - Brandeis University - Waltham, MA

Why:

On Father's Day of 2008, Nicole's world was shattered when her doctors told her that she was suffering from a very aggressive form of Lymphoma. With her husband and two year old son by her side, they have vowed to do everything possible to get her well.

Not only is Nicole fighting for her life, but she is fighting for the chance to see her beautiful 2 year old son Jack grow up. Her ONLY chance to win this battle is a bone marrow transplant. Please give Nicole a chance at life! Donor testing is easy and painless! She needs YOU!

Register as a marrow donor and you could help save Nicole and other patients like her. “Every year, more than 10,000 Americans get life-threatening diseases that can only be cured with a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor, yet only 3,500 find a match,” states Katharina Harf, EVP of DKMS Americas. Help us change this!

Marcia and Andy Williams – Together, they FIGHT AGAINST HER LEUKEMIA

A Bone Marrow Transplant is her only Chance for Survival

Salt Lake, UT, October 28, 2008 — DKMS, the largest bone marrow donor center in the world, is in a constant struggle to save lives of patients and to get more donors on the national registry. We received a desperate plea for help from the family and friends of a beautiful young mother of two, Marcia Williams. DKMS will do everything we can to help this family stay together.
Marcia shares her story, “My husband, Andy Williams, is a professional soccer player and is currently playing for the MLS team, Real Salt Lake. He travels a lot in his career, however, when he is home, we do EVERYTHING together as a family. I have come to realize that my girls, Shai, age 14 and Lexi, age 5 and husband, cannot imagine life without me - a reality that we may now have to face.

I am asking you, PLEASE, please think about the lives you could save, my life, among many others, moms, dads, babies can be saved if you sign up and become a marrow donor .
“I know the donor who is a match for me is out there, but if you are not tested, I will never find you,” said Marcia. “My children and husband need me in their lives, and I need them”.
Marcia’s daughter, Shai, says this about her mom, “I’m always thinking ‘Will my mom be okay?’ I just hope and pray for the best every single day. My mom needs to be here. For my graduation. For my wedding. For my kids.”
Currently, 10,000 blood cancer patients need a bone marrow transplant, but only 3,000 will receive one.
